In 2024 we use apps for all sorts of things - from listening to music, staying connected with friends via social media, budgeting, shopping and so much more. We use them on a daily basis and each app is so unique to fit the needs of the consumers each app is geared toward. What goes into and how do you design them? There are lots of moving pieces and important people to create a fully functioning app.

Currently in our User Experience class we are learning the ins and out of Figma. Pictured left is an example of a, very basic, homepage of an interface. We had to create an interface to have buttons connecting to a colored screen depicting the color of the emotion. Again this is a very basic design and lots of room to improve and be more creative.

We got the chance to learn how to create components in Figma, buttons, designs, and more. There is a process called prototype. This is where I can connect the buttons to the correct pages. After a lot of trial and error as well as peer and instructor review I was able to finish this basic design successfully.

If you would like to take a look to see the finished product click the link below! It will allow you to play around and click all the buttons. You experience how a consumer would see it.

While this was a very basic design, I am thoroughly enjoying this experience and learning how to create these designs. I can not wait to create more and learn about about this system even more in depth.

For anyone interested in learning Figma there are lots of YouTube videos to help you. Figma is also free - so check it out and dive in!
