At first glance "user experience" was an odd name for a class. I had no idea what to expect and was nervous I would be bored in this class. Was this going to be another class like a baisc english class or required class that is boring, but necessary. I was SORELY MISTAKEN!
Learning the ins and outs of the user experience this quarter has been the most exciting and fulfilling experience. This is the first class I have been so excited to do all of the assignments and practice with the tools.
Learning about the online program called FIGMA has been so rewarding and exciting. I often found myself working extra and creating more pages just to see what I could do with this program. While the creative aspect is probably the most fun aspect there is so much more to it.
We created an app this quarter called the 5 That Drive. This based loosely off the 5 questions - Who, What, When, Where, Why. Asking these questions in business and really anywhere in your life can help really narrow down and isolate the problems you are trying to address and help you come up with solutions. So this app we were designing was to create a design to allow business users utilize this "5 That Drive" to really elevate their business.
We used these questions to narrow down how we wanted to use the app and what we thought the user would want to use and see. We then did further research by having two people interviewed to see how this app could help them. We took the research and added it into the app design.
Figma allows you to create a flow diagram so I created a flow diagram of what I wanted the app to look like. This allows for there to be some method to your madness and have a guide for you to follow as you create pages.
Finally the fun part came in where we designed the app itself. There are no many tiny intricate details to every step. For example, I created fields for the user to fill in with their name and address. I had to create multiple vairants to change the look when the user sees it on the app to then when they hover over it and again when they press it to begin to type. This allows for the user to know by the subtle changes "oh hey something goes here." It took a few hours a couple times to really fine tune the app pages, but it was so much fun I didn't hardly notice the time.
