Advertisements are everywhere in our world, on tv, the radio, magazines, social media. They have taken over the world and you can find them anywhere.
Can you tell me what makes a good ad? What are ads you find yourself drawn to? Or which ones do you ignore? I know personally I ignore a lot of them, because I get used to them everywhere I tend to move past most of them.
The picture to the right is an OLD, or vintage if you like that term better, advertisement. We learned in class how simple is usually better.
Keep it simple!
With all of the noise and buzz of businesses trying to sell their products you want to draw people in. If your ad has too much going on people will move on. Give the people exactly what they want. All the information in one spot and in a quick to read manner.
I have learned in class less can sometimes be more and this has given myself some peace of mind. Sometimes I wondered am I artistic enough to create these elaborate designs to draw in the masses and make sales. As we dove into our work we started out by making our first design and it was nice to think of only a simple tagline. Instead of trying to make everything fancy we worked on a simple photo and a catchy tagline.
Pictured right is my first attempt at a simple, basic ad. I know I have a lot more to learn, but starting with the basics really has given me some confidence knowing - I CAN do this.
